CULTURAL AMENITIES

Port Stanley has a well-established live theatre and children's theatre, and is also home to many visual artists and craftspeople. As part of the Port Stanley-St. Thomas-London metropolitan area, Port Stanley is, at the most, minutes away from any of the cultural amenities ordinarily found in a metropolitan area of approximately half a million people. Its location midway between Detroit-Windsor and Toronto makes it an ideal jumping-off point for day or evening entertainment in either of those metropolitan centres. Opera London members, for example, frequently travel by chartered bus to Toronto for live opera featuring the Canadian Opera Company.

An intimate 140-seat theatre located in Port Stanley's former Village Hall, the Port Stanley Festival Theatre [http://www.portstanleytheatre.ca/ ] summer theatre highlights Canadian works in drama, comedy and musical-comedy, and other celebrated works.

London's storied Grand Theatre [www.grandtheatre.com] is well into its second century. London's full-time symphony, Orchestra London [www.orchestralondon.ca], has been sharing orchestral music for more than 60 years.

The Stratford Festival [www.stratfordfestival.ca] is about an hour's drive from Port Stanley.
